WHAT WE DO

Senior talent for consequential moments.

Averloft is designed for leadership hires where the cost of getting it wrong is materially higher than the search fee.

Chief Technology / Product Officer

Technology and product leaders who can set architecture direction, scale engineering organizations, balance speed with reliability and connect the roadmap to commercial outcomes.

Chief Revenue / Commercial Officer

Commercial leaders who build repeatable revenue engines — go-to-market strategy, sales organization design, pricing discipline and the leadership to professionalize growth.

COO & Operations Leadership

Operators who translate strategy into execution: operational scaling, process maturity, supply chain and the systems a growing company needs to perform predictably.

VP / GM & Functional Leaders

Senior functional and general management hires — the layer beneath the C-suite that determines whether strategy actually gets executed across markets and business units.

Cultural Alignment

Averloft is intentionally positioned away from transactional staffing. Every mandate receives a focused search strategy, market map, candidate narrative and structured assessment framework.

The objective is simple: help clients make a better leadership decision with better information, stronger candidates and a more rigorous process.

Partner-ledSenior attention throughout the mandate.
Research-drivenMarket mapping before candidate presentation.
Outcome-orientedRoles defined around business results.
ConfidentialDiscretion built into outreach and communication.
A boutique by intent

Averloft takes a limited number of mandates at a time so every search receives senior attention from start to close — no hand-offs to junior recruiters.

Retained, not transactional

We work on a retained basis, aligned to the outcome of the search rather than the speed of a placement. That structure lets us advise honestly, including when the right answer is not to hire.

Evidence over impressions

Every candidate is assessed against a written scorecard agreed with the client before the first interview. Recommendations come with documented reasoning, not gut feel.

Confidentiality as standard

Client identity, candidate identity and mandate details are handled on a strict need-to-know basis at every stage of the search.

WHERE WE OPERATE

The scope of our practice.

100+ executive placements

Since our founding in 2026, we have completed over 100 senior leadership mandates — CEO, CFO, COO, CTO, CRO, CMO, CHRO and the VP/GM layer beneath the C-suite.

Every sector

We work across all industries. Private equity portfolio companies, founder-led businesses, growth-stage technology, professional services, industrials and any organisation facing a consequential leadership moment.

Mandate types

New-role creation, succession planning, confidential replacement, first institutional hires and build-outs of complete leadership teams.

12-month placement guarantee

Every engagement includes a 12-month guarantee: if the appointed leader departs within that period, we re-run the search. Our commitment does not end at the offer — we stay through transition.

LEADERSHIP INTELLIGENCE

How rigorous search protects the decision.

Leadership Risk

A wrong senior hire cascades through strategy, teams and execution. Rigorous selection protects the whole organization beneath the role.

Market Coverage

Research expands outward from your context — through adjacent sectors and hidden talent pools — before a single candidate is presented.

Candidate Calibration

Experience, leadership style, motivation and cultural alignment are weighed together. The strongest candidates sit where all criteria overlap.

CONFIDENTIAL SEARCH

Discretion by Design.

Sensitive succession and replacement mandates require controlled communication, selective outreach, and disciplined information handling.

Controlled communicationInformation released only as the mandate requires.
Selective outreachDirect, private approaches to qualified leaders.

FOR EXECUTIVES

Considering your next chapter?

Many of the leaders we place were not looking when we first spoke. If you are open to a confidential conversation about your next role, we would like to know you.

Share Your CV Confidentially
Absolute confidentiality

Your CV and conversations stay with us. Your profile is never circulated to the market, and your current employer will never hear from us about you.

Contact only when it matters

We reach out when a live mandate genuinely matches your background and ambitions — not to fill a database or hit activity quotas.

Straight answers

If a role is not right for you, we say so and explain why. Candid feedback both ways is how the right appointment gets made.

HOW SEARCHES UNFOLD

Three mandates, from the inside.

Details are anonymized and generalized to protect client and candidate confidentiality — that protection is the product.

Confidential CFO Replacement
The situation

A private-equity-backed company needed to replace a sitting CFO ahead of a planned exit — without unsettling lenders, employees or the market.

Our approach

The search ran fully anonymized: a blind mandate narrative, staged disclosure of the client identity, and interviews conducted off-site. The sitting executive was informed only once the succession plan was finalized.

The outcome

A capital-markets-ready CFO was appointed with zero market leakage, and the transition was announced on the company’s own timetable.

First Institutional Leadership Team
The situation

A founder-led business taking its first institutional investment needed a COO and CFO capable of professionalizing operations without breaking the culture that made the company work.

Our approach

The mandate began with the founder, not the roles: mapping how decisions were really made, then defining leadership profiles that would complement — not collide with — the founder’s strengths.

The outcome

Both leaders were appointed from adjacent industries the client had not considered, and the founder retained the parts of the business he loved running.

Turnaround CEO Mandate
The situation

An established industrial company facing declining margins and an aging leadership bench needed a CEO with genuine transformation experience — not just a strong CV.

Our approach

Candidates were assessed against evidence of past transformations: what they actually changed, in what sequence, and what happened after they left. References were taken from people who had lived through those changes.

The outcome

The appointed CEO came from the shortlist’s least obvious profile — and the assessment record showed exactly why the evidence pointed there.

INSIGHTS

Perspectives on leadership hiring.

Why the best candidate is usually not looking4 min read

The strongest executives are almost always employed, delivering, and invisible to job boards. They do not respond to advertisements, and they rarely answer cold messages from recruiters they do not know. Reaching them requires three things: a credible, confidential approach; a narrative about the opportunity that respects their intelligence; and patience. This is the core economic argument for retained search — the market you can see through active applicants is a fraction of the market that actually exists. Most hiring processes select the best of who applied. A search should select the best of who exists.

The real cost of a wrong senior hire5 min read

The fee is the smallest number involved. A mis-hired executive costs a company through four channels: the strategy that stalls while the role underperforms; the strong people underneath who leave or disengage; the opportunity cost of the leader you did not hire; and the twelve to eighteen months it takes to admit the mistake, exit gracefully, and restart the search. This is why disciplined assessment matters more than speed. A search that takes four extra weeks and produces the right leader is dramatically cheaper than a fast process that produces the wrong one.

What a written scorecard changes3 min read

Most interview processes run on impressions — and impressions systematically favor confidence, polish and similarity to the interviewer. A written scorecard, agreed before the first conversation, changes the physics of the decision. It forces the hiring team to define what the role must accomplish before meeting anyone charming. It surfaces disagreement between stakeholders early, when it is cheap to resolve. And it gives every candidate the same bar, which is both fairer and more accurate. The discipline feels bureaucratic exactly once — until it prevents the first expensive mistake.

Succession is a process, not an event4 min read

The companies that handle leadership transitions well are the ones that started before they had to. Waiting until a resignation letter arrives means running the search under time pressure, with maximum leverage held by candidates and minimum room for judgment. Healthy succession work happens quietly and early: knowing the internal bench honestly, understanding the external market continuously, and having a confidential view of who could step in — before the question is urgent. The best time to think about succession is when everything is fine.

COMMON QUESTIONS

What clients and candidates ask us.

How long does a typical executive search take?

Most senior searches run from mandate definition to accepted offer in 4–10 weeks, depending on role seniority, market depth and confidentiality requirements. We agree a timeline at the start and report progress against it throughout.

How is a retained search different from contingent recruiting?

A retained search is an exclusive, structured engagement: we research the full market, approach leaders who are not actively looking, and assess every candidate against an agreed scorecard. Contingent recruiting is typically faster but draws mainly on active applicants and competes on speed rather than depth.

Can you run a search without revealing our company name?

Yes. Confidential and replacement mandates are a core part of our work. We approach the market with an anonymized narrative and disclose client identity only to qualified, vetted candidates at the appropriate stage — with your approval.

What does the search process cost?

Retained search fees are agreed up front and typically structured in stages across the engagement. The exact structure depends on role scope and complexity — we set it out clearly in the proposal before any work begins.

What happens if the placed executive leaves early?

Every engagement includes a 12-month replacement guarantee: if the appointed leader departs within that period, we re-run the search. The specific terms are documented in the engagement agreement.

I'm an executive — how do I get on your radar?

Send a short note and CV to search@averloft.com. We treat every candidate conversation as confidential, and we reach out when a mandate genuinely matches your background — we will not shop your profile to the market.
